VA Psychology Leadership Conference

23rd Annual VA Psychology Leadership Conference

Navigating Multiple Priorities while Enhancing Quality and Access

CANCELED

Conference update from The VAPLC Planning Committee (March 17, 2020)

Dear Colleagues,

Unfortunately, the 2020 VA Psychology Leadership Conference is canceled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

After much careful deliberation the VAPLC planning committee has come to the unfortunate decision that we will have to cancel the conference for FY20.  We have been monitoring the situation closely for several weeks and with recent developments including recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), along with VHA travel restrictions, we determined that it would not be possible or responsible to hold the meeting this year. It has been a difficult decision that has weighed heavily on many of us over the past few weeks.

Registration Refund
If you have previously registered, we will cancel your registration and refund your payment in full. We will begin processing the refunds this weekend and they will be processed as quickly as possible.

A few things to note:

  1. the registration payment will be returned to the credit card used for the purchase
  2. if you used your Education Office to pay for the registration, then the registration will be returned to that credit card, and you should alert your Education Office about the refund
  3. the credit card holder should get an email documenting the refund. If you do not receive that email, you may contact Dr. Jeff Burk at webmaster1@avapl.org, and he can send you a copy of the transaction information.

Hotel reservation cancelation

  1. If you made a reservation through the hotel's on-line system, using the link from our registration page, your reservation has been automatically cancelled and no further action is required.
  2. However, if you made a reservation on your own at Marriott.com or through another booking site/process, you will need to individually cancel. In this scenario, we recommend  that you contact the hotel directly to cancel by calling the reservations line at 210-224-6500, or by directly contacting the site you used to book.

The entire planning committee regrets that we had to come to this conclusion, and it was not easy. We are all extremely disappointed. The conference is a highlight for many of us - as a time when we can reconnect and recharge. We were looking forward to providing you with an outstanding program and sincerely wish there were alternatives. However, the responsibility to protect the health of our attendees and speakers is the highest priority.

We hope that we can bring everyone together and maintain the outstanding speakers and programming that we had planned for you, as we look to the future in May 2021. Stay well.

Thank you for all that you do and please let me know as questions emerge.

Sincerely,

Kathy Dollar and the entire VAPLC Planning Committee
